This is a short assignment that I had to do to that adds onto my midterm mark in one of my classes. It pretty much explains how our project went.

I was the director and assistant sound editor for project #1. My experience as a Director was, plainly, hell. As assistant sound, non-existent.
As a director, I already had an understanding of how much work it was and how hard it could be, but I never had a real respect for the work until I actually experienced it. I never thought I was going to get the chance to direct in the first place, but when the teachers liked my pitch it gave me a boost of energy towards my new job. I thought, since I had a really good image in my head, that it was going to not be as hard. Then the meetings and the questions started and I quickly realized that I’m going to need a lot more energy for this script than I had, even if it was only three minutes. I’ve learned from directing that to be a good director, you really need to take the reins and know your stuff. You have to have a constant reliable means of communication, get as much stuff done as you possibly can in one day and still get your rest at night. I have to admit that I was not prepared for the job as a director because I did not understand the full details of the job, and because of that, we would have functioned better than we did as a team.
As an assistant sound editor, I actually showed up expecting to be put to work doing something for Final Cut Pro, but I did not find the sound editor, I don’t even know if he was there. I don’t know if an assistant was needed to do sound because the film was pretty much taken out of my hands once it got into post production.

All the things that I said that I learned, I learned the hard way, Murphy's Law was smearing itself all over the place.
